Place's History
Nestled in the Judean hills, Yad Hashmona is a special moshav composed of Israelis whose common ground is their faith in Yeshua as the Messiah. Founded in 1971, the name Yad Hashmona means Memorial to the Eight. The name was given by the Finnish founding settlers in memory of eight Jewish refugees who were handed over by the Finnish government to the Nazis and murdered in Auschwitz. Today it is a thriving community consisting of about 120 residents including families, singles, children, volunteers, students and visitors.
Yad Hashmona is based on Biblical principles. It is our purpose and goal to serve those who come here to gather peacefully and safely. Yad Hashmona serves as a center for many activities like: weekend conferences, for picnics, music conferences and a variety of seminars. Many children’s camps are also held here annually. Every summer there are hundreds of children, running around, meeting and growing with other children their own age.
